## **Chestnut Tables: Timeless Beauty from a Vanishing American Icon**

**Our tables are handcrafted from solid chestnut wood, our farmhouse tables bring warmth and character to your dining space.**

American Chestnut (Castanea dentata) was once the "queen of the eastern American forest," stretching from Maine to Mississippi and prized for its remarkable qualities.

### **Rare & Historic American Chestnut**

- **Rare & Historic**: Nearly wiped out by a blight in the early 1900s, American chestnut is now virtually extinct in the wild. The only way to find this wood today is by reclaiming it from old barns and buildings—a true piece of American history.
- **Exceptional Durability**: Chestnut is naturally lightweight, strong, and highly resistant to decay, making it ideal for furniture meant to last generations.
- **Rich Character**: Its warm, reddish-brown tones and unique grain patterns lend a sense of heritage and authenticity to every piece.

### **The Beauty of Wormy Chestnut**

Our chestnut tables are crafted from _wormy chestnut_—wood marked by small holes left by insects during the tree's decline. These features are not defects, but rather cherished hallmarks of reclaimed chestnut:

- **Unique Texture**: The worm holes and natural imperfections tell the story of the tree's journey and the passage of time.
- **One-of-a-Kind Aesthetic**: No two tables are ever alike. Each bears its own pattern of worm holes, knots, and grain, making every piece truly individual.
- **Preserving History**: We never paint our chestnut tables, allowing the wood's natural beauty and storied past to shine through.

### **Why Choose a Chestnut Table from FFTB?**

- **Sustainably Sourced**: Our tables are made exclusively from reclaimed American chestnut, honoring both the environment and America's agricultural heritage.
- **Heirloom Quality**: Built to last, each table is a testament to fine craftsmanship and a living tribute to a lost American forest.
- **Conversation Starter**: Owning a chestnut table means owning a rare piece of history—one that will be admired for its beauty, character, and story for years to come your table will become more valuable as time goes on.
