Live Edge Tables
The wood slabs used to craft our live edge tables are sourced from trees in Pennsylvania that have fallen naturally or needed to be taken down due to safety or health reasons. From start to finish the fallen tree trunks are taken to the sawmill where they are cut into 2” to 2-1/4” thick slabs. From there, the slabs are air dried in a temperature-controlled building for at least a year. Before the slabs are crafted into furniture, they undergo further drying, at a higher temperature, for many weeks. The kiln dried slabs are ready to be crafted into beautiful tabletops. This critical process ensures consistent density throughout the wood and showcases a smooth beautiful surface that can withstand changes in temperature and humidity once inside your home. We offer two options live edge slabs for tabletops:The ‘book-match’ tabletop is a slab consisting of two consecutive boards from the same tree joined together in the middle to create a symmetrical, mirror-image effect.A single slab tabletop is one board, chosen for its width and live edge character. If desired, we can remove the live edges, a common request for island tops.
